“I am the Ocean” song

A couple things were lurking in the background with this song. One was Starry Starry Night. Not just the image of it but the creation of it and then what it represents. The other was a quote from Nisargadatta Maharaj: “When I look inside and see that I am nothing, that is wisdom. When I look outside and see that I am everything, that is love…”

I didn’t set out to then write a song about these things, but they were definitely hanging around in old haunted house.

Lyrics:

I am the ocean
I live where I drown
The moon turns me over
The sun burns me down

I am the mountain
I rise like a wing
The wind is my shepherd
The trees are my king
What can I do?
What can I do?

Blessed are the trees
And the birds and bees
And the bark and shell
And the church and bell

Blessed is the breeze
All the whistling leaves
In the wishing well
Hear the whispering yell

I am the river
And I am the ground
I am the silence
And I am the sound

I am the atom
That can’t be destroyed
I am the motion
And I am the void
