When I first met Lois I was playing guitar and singing with a kind of high tenor voice. When I started doing songs with piano, I flipped my Leonard Cohen coin and started singing in the gutter range. Lois doesn’t dislike the gutter voice too much, but she often says that she wishes I’d sing like I used to. When she heard the Lay My Head Down song, she mentioned this again and so I thought I’d do a more “normal” version.
