“All The Old Cowboys” song

Thought I’d continue along with the normal voice experiment. I don’t really know where this song came from. I’m not very political, but this song is.

Lyrics:

All the Palestinians are coming around
Taking shears to the baskets
of their thorny crowns

And all the Israelis agree
To divide the divine up equally

But oh don’t break for this
Philosophy’s perfect apocalypse

the truth is born of pain
Moment by moment and then refrain

All the lost Indians are streaming back
From the mountains and the canyons
And their broken shacks

And all the Old Cowboys agree
To divide the divine up equally

But oh don’t break for this
Philosophy’s perfect apocalypse

the truth is born of pain
Moment by moment and then refrain

And did you know…I need a job?

  1. Reminds me of something R.E.M. may have done in its heyday. Sleeves is up high on my list of favorite songwriters.

  2. i enjoy all the stuff you do for ron & fez .really digging youre normal voice . if you find a few extra min us clam digger and other comm fishermen here in maine could use a nice working man tune

  3. I like both voices. It’s great in the normal voice version of “Lay My Head Down” when we get the best of both worlds with a little dualing Sleeves’s action.

The background scenery in that picture is breathtaking btw.

    1. me too…and I’ll think about doing some other stanzas. And I think you guys are right about where the song lays in terms of politics. 🙂 Thanks!
