Two Wedding Songs for Ron & Fez

Tomorrow on Ron & Fez, it’s the “World’s Fastest Wedding” with Bill & Elizabeth set to tie the knot on air.

Here are two songs to go along with it, neither one fast or even short.

The first song really belongs to the Japanese band “UmiKebu”. They sent me the music a week or so ago and asked me to come up with a lyric and it suddenly seemed to fit in with this wedding deal.

I wasn’t sure if Kevin of UmiKebu could mix my million crazy vocals down in time, so I wrote another song, just in case. But he’s the World’s Fastest Mixer! I wish I could have him mix all my stuff. Anyway…

Song 1: “Lifted” Umikebu Feat. Sleeves

Lyrics: Lets say you lift me
Until the body break down
Until the flesh grows weak
Until the light turns down
And everything I need
As the body breaks down
As you lifted me
To be or not to be

And all these premonitions
This whole land of felons
And every damned and new thief
And every lost and broken bastard
And anyone who’s ever broke down
And anyone who’s needing shelter
And if you’ve fallen by the wayside
And if you’re bleeding in the gutter
Instead of falling by the black sea
Come dance with me

Song 2: “Lay My Head Down”

Lyrics:
I been lying in this manger
Down beneath the Bodhi tree
Like a pilgrim bound for Mecca
But the road is all I see
So I laid down in the starlight
Fell asleep and had a dream
That I’d hunted all the mountains
And I’d captured all the trees
Lay my head down, let my heart take over me
Lay thy head down, let thy heart take over thee

When I met you
For the first time
How strange I couldn’t see
My legs buckled, I’d done searching
And I was down upon one knee
Lay my head down, let my heart take over me
Lay thy head down, let thy heart take over thee

All these earthquakes and disasters
All these wars and enemies
Well, here’s your warning to destruction
Cause your lady’s married thee
So to William and Elizabeth
What holds you tight sets you free

Little Ron & Fez Rejoiner

Perry has some really good “coming back from the break” rejoiner songs. I was working on this tune and it wasn’t going anywhere and then I thought it might work like that.

And the Irving Thalberg Award Goes to…

By , 24 February, 2010, No Comment

I thought I had no chance to win this. Lots of great entries and I’m tired of hearing it.

But I am old and have been in the business for a while. Irving Thalberg time.

So I say thank you to Ron & Fez and Mr. East Side Dave and Sir Christopher Stanley. This comes at a good time.

And once more, Pennystock Chaser jingle:[audio: http://radioghost.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/PennyStockChaser.mp3]

The $1,000 Jingle Challenge – Beat Sleeves

I feel extremely awkwardly proud to be a part of this gimmicky piece of wickedness.

So come up with a better jingle than this for Pennystock Chaser:

and win $1,000.

More details here.

Sam Amidon at the Sumner Knight Chapel

By , 19 January, 2010, No Comment

This past weekend at the Sumner Knight Chapel was really amazing. The Chapel itself is set way back in a cemetery. It was a standing room only crowd of 120 or so. I started off with a story and then Redwing Blackbird did a set, followed by Red Heart the Ticker, and then Sam Amidon.

Kevin Dremel put the whole thing together and recorded the event. I’ll be sync’ing Kevin’s good audio up with my ok video and hopefully posting some songs from the other bands and a bit of my story.

Here’s Sam’s version of Word of Mouth:

Live Reading of “Sarro’s Balloon” Tonight!

By , 16 January, 2010, No Comment

Starts tonight at 6:30. I’ll start with a live reading of “Sarro’s Balloon” with the musical assistance of Red Heart the Ticker, Redwing Blackbird & Sam Amidon.

Redwing Blackbird will play second, RHTT third and Sam Amidon last. If you haven’t heard these musicians, please check them out. They all have new or forthcoming discs, but this is especially a CD release party for Redwing Blackbird’s beautiful new album“That Bear Skinned A River”.

The mysterious Sumner Knight Chapel is a neat pile of stones and has perfect acoustics – the show will be done without PA’s. No wires or mics. Just sounds bouncing off walls hanging in the midair.

$8 donation is requested, but this goes toward the rehab of the chapel.

I’ll be selling copies of the “Sarro’s Balloon” CD at the show for $5. But you can also click on the disc above to purchase. Or you can do Paypal here.

Directions below. Hope to see you at this really unique show!
