“Whisper, Pray, Make Room” wins a Spotlight Award

By , 15 April, 2011, 1 Comment

Thanks to everyone for voting for WPMR as Favorite Play in this years Spotlight Awards! Lois and I didn’t go last night – it’s far, we couldn’t get a sitter, and I didn’t think I stood a chance. In fact, I shouldn’t have stood a chance, but I think that Mr. Bennington and Mr. Whatley pushed some buttons in the background.

Thanks to the director (and one of the hosts of the awards show), John Herman, who accepted on my behalf.

“I am the Ocean” song

By , 31 March, 2011, No Comment

A couple things were lurking in the background with this song. One was Starry Starry Night. Not just the image of it but the creation of it and then what it represents. The other was a quote from Nisargadatta Maharaj: “When I look inside and see that I am nothing, that is wisdom. When I look outside and see that I am everything, that is love…”

I didn’t set out to then write a song about these things, but they were definitely hanging around in old haunted house.

Lyrics:

I am the ocean
I live where I drown
The moon turns me over
The sun burns me down

I am the mountain
I rise like a wing
The wind is my shepherd
The trees are my king
What can I do?
What can I do?

Blessed are the trees
And the birds and bees
And the bark and shell
And the church and bell

Blessed is the breeze
All the whistling leaves
In the wishing well
Hear the whispering yell

I am the river
And I am the ground
I am the silence
And I am the sound

I am the atom
That can’t be destroyed
I am the motion
And I am the void

“The Fireman’s Waiting” Song

By , 28 March, 2011, 3 Comments

I really don’t know what this song is about. But one more Sean song and I’ll be releasing a new album on iTunes, including the Smoke Song, the Moon Song, the Poor Man’s Lullaby…and 10 others that I can locate.

If anyone knows what this song is about, please leave a comment, or email me at sleeves at radioghost dot com. Thank you.

Lyrics:

Everything you see was meant to be not believed
Everything you do is was will never be known

Everyone you meet is not to be deceived
Everyone you don’t may be safely ignored

Wish you could choose but the fireman’s waiting
To usher you into a hole in the floor
Wish you could make of it more in the making
Wish you could make it more and more

Ron & Fez Phone Jingle

By , 7 March, 2011, 2 Comments

I think I forgot about this one. I do remember that I managed to get the phone number wrong in the first version…singing “One eight six ron zero fez…” for some reason.

Bad at numbers. Art by Keviemetal.

Anyway – here it is:

Master Class in Music with Sherwin Sleeves

By , 2 February, 2011, No Comment

When I created and uploaded the above video, I thought I’d share it only privately on The Stalwarts website. But then I hit upon the snag that youtube permits you to privately share videos with only 50 people. And I need to share it with a few more than that.

So I thought I would use the video to pitch the AMV subscription once again.

For about 12 dollars a month, you get:

1. A limited edition CD, numbered and signed, with original artwork. One CD per month for 6 months.
2. Access to the Stalwarts website, which includes various types of downloadable extra audio (recorded walks, songs) and video (the filmed of AMV the Play, things like Master Class below. A video tour of Sherwin’s neighborhood is currently in the works). And lastly, a forum to discuss whatever you like.

A six month subscription costs $77.76. There’s a month to month plan of $12.96 and a 3 month plan of $38.88. If you’re not interested in the CD – there’s a download-only option of $45 for the entire six months.

Payment can be sent via Paypal to my email (sphurley@yahoo.com). Other forms of payment can be worked out.

Lastly – there is no such thing as being too late. Subscribers can join at any time.

The $5 AMV Subscription

By , 7 January, 2011, No Comment

I thought I’d offer an inexpensive way for people to get a sense of what an AMV subscription entails. So for $5, you can get a one month online membership. You can hear the first story, listen to the additional audio, get all the songs and see and listen to the things that members are posting in the forum.

Two examples of the additional audio:

1. Here’s a few minutes from Sherwin’s walk in the snowy woods:
[audio: http://radioghost.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/WalkforWebRG.mp3]

2. Here’s one of the four songs from the first story:

If the subscription seems valuable to you, you can consider going forward month to month. A six month subscription includes a signed, numbered CD of each story. Only 200 of these CDs will be printed. This membership costs $77.76. There’s a month to month plan of $12.96 and a 3 month plan of $38.88. If you’re not interested in the CD – there’s a download-only option of $45 for the entire six months.

Payment can be sent via Paypal to my email (sphurley@yahoo.com). Checks are also accepted. The CDs will be shipped at the beginning of each month.

Lastly – there is no such thing as being too late. Subscribers can join at any time.

What does an AMV Subscription Entail?

By , 3 January, 2011, No Comment

The Stalwarts private website is up and running and we have around 50 members now. A Forum is currently being added for members to discuss what they like and to post their own work if they wish – photographs, writing, music, art.

I thought I could supply a little more information about what exactly is being provided to subscribers so that those considering joining might have a better idea.

Aside from the 6 stories – each episode of which will have 5 new songs – Sherwin will regularly provide more casual shows. These are 20 to 30 minute long talks that take place within the framework of the stories themselves.

By way of example, here’s a few minutes from Sherwin’s walk in the snowy woods:
Quicktime or Download

The complete audio is 25 minutes or so. What is perhaps interesting about this is that these casual talks emerge from the framework of the stories themselves. So the first story “AMV40: The Three Benches” begins with Sherwin walking into town to get coffee. While his walk through the woods is described in the narrative, the actual experience of the walk is not. But one can then listen to the casual audio to actually hear the small adventure of his walk.

This concept will continue to roll out with formal stories and informal live “interiors” playing off each other until the end.

This week Sherwin will also be posting the filmed version of “Atoms, Motion & the Void” to provide subscribers with a deeper sense of his experience with the Stalwarts.

Live audio and videocasts are also planned. Again, these will take place within the context of the ongoing story.

All subscriptions include full access to the private “Stalwarts” website where the stories will be available for download, as well as the regular new content.

Payment can be sent via Paypal to my email (sphurley@yahoo.com). Other forms of payment can be worked out. The CDs will be shipped at the beginning of each month. The first CD “AMV#40 – The Three Benches” will be shipped to arrive during the first week of January, 2011.

Lastly – there is no such thing as being too late. Subscribers can join at any time.

“The Three Benches” Cover Art

By , 27 December, 2010, 2 Comments

Kevin Kobasic (Stalwart #34) created a beautiful piece of art for “AMV #40 The Three Benches”. I’m really blown away.

The Stalwarts website will be open very shortly. Subscribers will need to register first (and once) and then be approved to visit the site.

There are subscribed members now in the United States, Canada, China, Holland, Australia and the UK. Almost everyone has chosen the six month subscription ($77.76) but there’s a month to month plan of $12.96 and a 3 month plan of $38.88. There’s a download-only option of $45 for the entire six months.

Payment can be sent via Paypal to my email (sphurley@yahoo.com). Other forms of payment can be worked out. The CDs will be shipped at the beginning of each month. The first CD “AMV#40 – The Three Benches” will be shipped to arrive during the first week of January, 2011.
